Brief description: This painting shows an episode from real life in the Harakbut village… It tells of how two elders decided to live in the middle of the forest far from the city and for their protection they took care of and lived with their beloved twelve dogs. When the miners arrived and threatened to kill them if they did not give up their forest. Every time the miners came, the twelve dogs defended the elderly couple. One fateful day the twelve dogs were found dead and immediately the great machinery arrived and destroyed the hut and forest of the Harakbut couple. The defenseless elders were soon displaced. Mourning the death of their dogs and the destruction of their hut and territory, they soon died.
